A warehouse transformed with brights and blond wood

Isn't this yellow bathroom fantastic? It's just one of the cheery colourful bursts in this fantastic new home for let in east London, via The Modern House estate agency (and just in time for last-minute Olympics nuts).

The house, a former carpenter's workshop, is in Bethnal Green and has been very cleverly designed. I particularly like the sleeping arrangements...

Isn't this double "bed pod" enticing? It has just the appeal of a children's den, but for adults (or very lucky children).

While the upstairs beds (a double and a single) are tucked away in this enclosed mezzanine, suspended above the living area.

The rest of the place has more clever features (and zingy colours) to pore over...

Love the primary-coloured kitchen accessories with all that clean, blond wood and crisp white walls.

Clever use of space, comfortable compact designs and the division – or 'zoning' – of one giant warehouse, to create a cosy home that provides privacy, are such satisfying things to see. If you agree, there are plenty of absorbing books to feed your inner architect. Old as it is, I really love the Marie Claire Maison Small Spaces book, which was a present from Australia. I never tire of repurposing my home – but largely, just in my head.

If you are interested in renting this house in east London, it costs from £700 per week. Go to The Modern House for full details.
