Sponsored post: Yankee Candles

Although I'm not a scented candle snob, I am a scent snob. Mine tend only to get burned when people I'm trying to impress come over – simply because good-smelling candles cost so damn much.

So I was dubious when Yankee Candle offered to send me some samples of theirs – which start at under a tenner. All I knew of their range was that lots of the candles have very sweet fragrances, which is not my thing at all. But then I spotted their Aromatherapy Spa range, which comes in muted colours with similarly muted scents, and I was pleasantly surprised...

This Sage and white tea pillar, above, is just £7.75 and the scent is subtle, unsugary and suitably herby. The packaging, seen here, also slides off leaving a plain white candle.

The Lavender, Ylang Ylang and Geranium costs £8.85 for a small jar size, as pictured above. It is the stronger smelling of the two.  It'd be a good daily bathroom candle.

You can also buy diffusers, odour eliminating room sprays and warming oils in the same scents if burning is not your bag.
